Your payment guide

Paying for a government service.

Start with an official invoice. Follow its payment instructions. Keep the receipt and check the service status.

Start at the right service

Use the relevant government service portal to obtain your invoice or payment instruction. Check the service, payer details, amount, currency and reference before choosing a payment method. Keep a copy of the instruction.

Use the options shown for your invoice

The government eServices FAQs describe mobile money, card and bank options, alongside authorised Capital Pay agents. Available choices can vary by service and current instructions. Use the options offered for the transaction you are completing.

  1. Check the invoice. Confirm the service, reference, currency and total.
  2. Follow its payment instruction. Use the stated channel and recipient.
  3. Keep the confirmation. Save the receipt, date and transaction reference.
  4. Check the service status. Return to the relevant institution or service portal to confirm that the payment has been matched.

If the status has not changed

Keep both the invoice and the payment confirmation. Compare their references and amounts. Contact the relevant payment channel or service institution with those details before making another payment.

When instructions change

Tax and payment arrangements can change. A dated news report is useful context, but your current invoice and the issuing authority’s directions are the starting point for a new payment.
